"It's easier to avoid temptation than to resist it"
This message tee serves as a reminder that Christians are weak, but Christ in us is strong. We must Submit to the Holy Spirit, in order to avoid temptation, rather than relying on our ability to resist it when it comes our way, which is a time-tested, proven way to fail.
In the 3rd chapter of Matthew, Satan is referred to as "the tempter" and he tempts us where we are weak. Pride, Anger, Lust, Greed, Sloth, Gluttony, Envy... These are temptations that are thrown at everyone, everyday. But the Good News is that we have the Holy Spirit, who helps us to foresee the things of the tempter, so we don't pay the price for giving into the temptations of the flesh. We must, however, submit ourselves unto the Lord and follow the Holy Spirit, if we are to avoid the consequences of giving into temptations. Proverbs is known as the book of wisdom. In both the 22nd and the 27th chapters, we are given the instruction that "the prudent sees the evil and hides himself...", it goes on (in both places) to call the ones who go on as "naive". We fail daily, due to our lack of submission, as the Holy Spirit warns us of upcoming dangers, but think we can do it on our own. Naive is the perfect way to describe our foolish decision not to let the Lord lead us daily.
